Intro Β· For retreat hosts

Where quiet Ibiza actually begins

Lovely Locations is a location agency in the Balearics. For retreat hosts we focus on one thing: single-property rentals in rural Ibiza where a group of eight to twenty-eight can practice, eat and sleep without overlap with strangers β€” and without the bassline from San Antonio drifting in at 2am.

Every villa here is a whole-property takeover. The fincas sit inland around San Juan, Santa Gertrudis and Santa AgnΓ©s. The coastal villas are quiet ones β€” Cala Jondal-side, not Playa d’en Bossa. We know each property, we know the terrace that takes a yoga mat layout, and we know which owners accept vegetarian-only catering, silent mornings and mid-week arrivals.

Why Ibiza for retreats

Six reasons Ibiza works for yoga and wellness retreats

Quiet inland Ibiza, not the club strip

The island’s north and central valleys β€” San Juan, Santa AgnΓ©s, Santa Gertrudis β€” are entirely rural. Pine forest, almond groves, hardly a sound after dark. Your guests can actually hear themselves breathe.

Outdoor space that holds a mat circle

Every finca we recommend has a flat terrace, covered porch or lawn where fifteen to twenty mats fit comfortably. We check the surface, the sun path and the wind exposure before we shortlist β€” not every “event villa” actually has a usable practice space.

Short transfer, long decompression

Ibiza airport to a San Juan finca is around forty minutes. To the south coast villas, fifteen. Guests arriving from London or Berlin are on a mat, in silence, within three hours of takeoff.

Hike and cove access from the door

Most of our rural fincas sit beside the island’s walking trails or a short drive from a quiet cove β€” Es Portitxol, Cala d’Hort, AigΓΌes Blanques. Sunrise hikes, afternoon swims, cold-water dips. The programme writes itself.

Plant-based, locally sourced catering

Ibiza has a strong vegetarian, vegan and ayurvedic chef network built around the wellness community. We can pair a villa with a private chef who sources from Sant Joan and Forada markets and works to your menu brief β€” macrobiotic, raw, Ayurvedic or simply plant-forward.

A longer retreat season than you’d think

April through late October is the sweet spot. Spring brings almond blossom and cool mornings; shoulder-season October still delivers 22Β°C days for outdoor practice. Several of our fincas have wood stoves for winter silent retreats too.

Planning a yoga retreat in Ibiza: the things worth knowing

Choosing the right villa format

The first and most practical decision is the practice space. Not every finca has a covered, flat, matted area large enough for your group β€” and once a retreat starts, there is no workaround. Rural fincas usually offer a gravel or stone terrace under shade cloth, plus an indoor salon for rainy mornings and meditation. Coastal villas tend to centre around a pool deck or covered porch, which is beautiful but weather-dependent. Larger estates offer dedicated yoga shalas or convertible multi-purpose rooms that double as workshop space, which matters if you’re running teacher trainings or silent retreats.

When to run a retreat in Ibiza

The retreat season in Ibiza runs roughly April to late October, with May, June, September and early October the most forgiving months. Temperatures sit between 20 and 28Β°C, light is long but not aggressive, and the party crowd hasn’t arrived or has just left. July and August still work for retreats β€” especially in the quiet inland fincas β€” but prices climb and you share the island with a louder audience. Winter is workable for silent retreats and writer/creative residencies: fincas with wood stoves, low rates, and an almost empty island.

Catering, chefs and dietary briefs

Ibiza has a strong wellness-oriented chef community β€” vegetarian, vegan, Ayurvedic, macrobiotic and raw are all routinely served. We pair villas with freelance private chefs who understand retreat food: light breakfasts, hearty midday meals that balance blood sugar through afternoon practice, simpler evening meals. Most chefs source from local markets at Forada and Sant Joan. Expect to brief the chef on your group’s dietary patterns, any fasting windows, and whether you want the kitchen to follow a specific programme across the week.

Going through us vs. booking direct

Booking one specific Ibiza villa directly from its owner works well if you’ve been there before and know the space. Retreat hosts new to the island benefit from a curated shortlist: we know which terrace is sunrise-facing, which villa has owner restrictions on candles and singing bowls, which chef handles twelve-person ayurvedic menus, and which neighbours will complain about 6am practice. No shortlist fee; we only charge if you move on to a full concierge scope.

Retreat formats our Ibiza villas regularly host

Teacher trainings (200hr modules, 8–16 students)
Silent and meditation retreats

Tell us your retreat dates, group size, practice style and dietary brief. Within 24 hours we come back with a shortlist of two to four Ibiza villas β€” availability-checked, with honest notes on the practice space, neighbour sensitivities and chef pairing. Shortlists are free. If you need a full concierge layer β€” airport transfers, chef, housekeeping, massage therapists on site, excursion coordination β€” we cost that separately.

Common questions

Frequently asked

What group size do Ibiza retreat villas accommodate?

Most of our Ibiza retreat properties sleep between eight and sixteen, which is the sweet spot for a single-teacher yoga retreat. Larger estates on the page (Can Arte, Villa Jondal) can absorb groups of up to 20–28 for teacher trainings or multi-teacher retreats β€” typically with some guests in twin rooms. Tell us your final group size and we’ll filter to villas where everyone sleeps comfortably and the practice space still works.

Do the villas have a yoga shala or dedicated practice space?

Some, not all. A handful have a purpose-built yoga shala β€” a covered, matted platform apart from the main house. More often the practice space is a large flat terrace with shade cloth, a covered porch, or a multi-purpose salon that clears for mats. We measure and photograph the practice space before shortlisting, so you know whether the villa fits fifteen mats in vinyasa spacing or twelve in restorative spread.

Can we bring our own chef, or is catering provided?

Both options work. Most of our villas are self-catered at the venue level, which means you bring the chef β€” and Ibiza has an excellent freelance chef community specialising in plant-based, ayurvedic, macrobiotic and raw menus. We can introduce you to chefs we’ve worked with, or accommodate a chef you already travel with. A small number of larger estates offer full-board packages with in-house kitchens.

Can we host a silent retreat with quiet hours at these villas?

Yes, with the right villa. Rural fincas in San Juan, Santa AgnΓ©s and Santa Gertrudis are the best fit β€” single-property plots, distant neighbours, no passing traffic. We flag which villas have owner-approval for silent mornings, singing bowls, cacao ceremonies and amplified sound; it is not universal. Coastal villas can be trickier because of neighbouring properties.

How far are the villas from Ibiza airport, and from the nightlife?

Transfers from Ibiza airport run roughly forty minutes to the northern San Juan fincas, twenty to thirty minutes to the south coast villas, and ten to fifteen to the central Santa Gertrudis area. Distance from the party strip (San Antonio, Playa d’en Bossa) is the deliberate point: most of our retreat villas sit thirty to forty minutes’ drive from those areas, in valleys where sound does not carry.

Are pets and children allowed at retreat villas?

Policies vary by owner. A number of our fincas are family-friendly and allow children under adult supervision; a smaller subset permit well-behaved dogs with advance notice. For retreats specifically, many hosts prefer adults-only weeks β€” we can filter to child-free, pet-friendly, or fully flexible villas depending on your format.

How far in advance should I book a retreat villa in Ibiza?

For peak retreat weeks β€” May, June, September, early October β€” six to nine months out is realistic for a specific villa, and twelve months for the best-known fincas. For winter, early spring or late autumn retreats, six to ten weeks can work. Send us the target date early even if it isn’t locked: we can place soft holds on two or three options while you finalise.
