A production-first location agency, built around the shoot

Lovely Locations is a production-first location agency in the Balearics, working in Ibiza and Formentera across photo and fashion shoots, events and brand experiences. We know the Ibiza location landscape — the fincas, pool villas and distinctive interiors that work for a shoot or a launch — and how location rentals and productions run on the island. When a booking needs more than a venue, we can take on the production around it.

The roster is weighted toward what shoots actually need — shootable interiors and exteriors, room for cast and crew on-site, and locations that suit real photo and film productions, from fashion editorials and lookbooks to commercials, e-commerce days and music videos. We recommend whichever finca, pool villa, beach or distinctive interior actually fits the brief, with an honest read on what each place can and cannot do on the day. Where a shoot needs permits, crew or catering, we can coordinate the production layer locally.

Why Ibiza

Six reasons Ibiza works for shoots

Six terrain archetypes inside forty minutes

Pine-covered hills, reddish-rock beaches, whitewashed salt flats, Dalt Vila cobblestones, brutalist architecture and dense agricultural land. From a north-coast beach to a Sant Josep finca is a forty-minute drive — three locations in a single call sheet is genuinely feasible.

Soft Mediterranean light, long shoulder seasons

May through mid-October delivers strong, usable light from roughly 07:30 until golden hour well after 19:30 in midsummer. Low humidity keeps wardrobe and hair cleaner than mainland Mediterranean. Winter skies are moody and low-contrast — excellent for narrative and editorial.

Production-ready, not just pretty

These locations are chosen to suit real productions, with owners who are open to them. We’re familiar with the practical side — where three-phase power tends to sit, which roads a truck can turn on, where a catering tent goes, and which owners are open to a wall being repainted for the day. That level of detail is on every shortlist we send.

Crews of six to thirty, comfortably

Most locations here are set up for small editorial teams, mid-size fashion crews and agency shoots. Larger commercial productions with twenty-plus crew and talent are equally welcome — we flag parking capacity, green-room options and on-site bathrooms up front.

Permits and paperwork, handled

Spanish filming permits are municipality-specific and deadline-driven — typically seven to ten working days lead time depending on the council. We can help navigate Ibiza Film Commission paperwork, protected-area authorisations and public-road closures, so the permit layer runs alongside the rest of your prep.

One contact, full-service production layer

Location scouting, permits, transport, classic-car rentals, catering, crew accommodation and stay-over options at finca locations. One team, one point of contact — we can run the full layer around the location, or just hand you the address. Your call.

Planning a shoot in Ibiza: the things worth knowing

Choosing the right location format

The first decision on any Ibiza shoot is whether the story needs interior, exterior or both. Fincas offer both — whitewashed interior rooms that photograph cleanly at midday and exterior walls and gardens that work in early morning and late afternoon. Pool villas bias exterior: great for swimwear and fashion, less flexible on a grey day. Distinctive locations (Art Deco, brutalist concrete, mid-century motel) are weather-proof interior plays — the building is the image.

When to shoot in Ibiza

May, June, September and early October are the sweet spot: strong light, low humidity, all locations open, rates below peak. Midsummer July–August brings punishing midday sun and crowded beach backdrops — shoot early and late, or head inland to covered fincas. Winter is underrated for narrative and editorial: low-contrast light, empty beaches, and accommodation at a fraction of peak rates.

Permits, protected areas and public spaces

Spain handles film and photo permits at municipal level. For Eivissa town, Sant Josep, Sant Antoni and Santa Eulària, a written application is required typically seven to ten working days in advance. Public beaches, protected natural areas (including Ses Salines and parts of the north coast) and the airport or port need separate authorisations. Private locations — fincas, villas and the distinctive interiors — generally do not need a municipal permit but have their own rental agreement and usage terms.

Working with a location agency versus booking direct

Booking a single villa direct is simple for a one-day lookbook. An agency earns its seat when the production needs (a) a curated shortlist across formats before the client chooses, (b) a multi-location call sheet across two or three days, or (c) production layers — permits, camera-truck transport, classic-car rentals, stay-over accommodation, catering, on-set support.

Common questions

Frequently asked

What kinds of shooting locations do you have in Ibiza?

Our Ibiza roster covers three broad categories: traditional fincas and countryside estates (stone walls, patina, olive groves), modern pool villas (clean architecture, sea views, infinity pools), and distinctive interiors (brutalist concrete, Art Deco, mid-century motel, classic-car fleets). We also scout public backdrops — beaches, Dalt Vila cobblestones, salt flats — that we help permit and coordinate.

Do I need a permit to shoot in Ibiza?

For private locations — fincas, villas, the distinctive interiors — you work from the owner’s rental agreement rather than a municipal permit. For public beaches, historic old-town streets, protected natural areas, the airport and the port, you need a municipal or authority permit. Applications typically require seven to ten working days lead time depending on the council. We handle the Ibiza Film Commission paperwork alongside the location booking.

How do Ibiza sound laws affect music video or commercial shoots?

Most private locations have outdoor noise-level restrictions from 23:00 onwards, with some municipalities stricter. For daytime shoots with playback or generators this rarely causes issues — but overnight or very late productions need the noise and generator plan confirmed in writing before the booking. We flag this on every shortlist where it is likely to matter.

Can I shoot on Ibiza beaches?

Yes, with permits. Public beaches including Xarraca, Cala Oliva and the south-west sunset coast require permission from the relevant ayuntamiento and, for protected coastal zones, from the Consell Insular. For crowded summer beaches, we often recommend very early mornings or off-season shoots; for exclusivity, we can sometimes arrange a private beach-club day rental with controlled background.

What crew size and vehicle access do the locations handle?

Most fincas and pool villas on this page comfortably host crews of six to thirty with car parking on site. Larger commercial productions with twenty-plus crew, talent and a camera truck are possible at the bigger estates — we flag parking, turning radius and green-room options on the shortlist. A handful of the distinctive interior locations have tight access and are better suited to small editorial teams.

When is the best time of year to shoot in Ibiza?

May, June, September and early October are the sweet spot — strong light, long days, mild temperatures, and location availability not yet at peak. July–August brings strong midday sun and busy backdrops, so plan for early-morning and late-afternoon windows. Winter is underrated for editorial and narrative: moody light, empty beaches, and rates at a fraction of summer.

How do I request a shortlist?

Send us the shoot date, crew size, use case (fashion, commercial, editorial, music video, e-commerce), any specific look or mood references, and rough budget. We come back with three to five shortlisted Ibiza locations — availability-checked, with real photos, capacity and power notes, and pros and cons for your brief. No obligation, no signup.
