A working shortlist for People teams, not a booking marketplace

Lovely Locations is a production-first location agency. Our Spain roster started as a shoot-location book and grew into something People and Ops teams quietly borrow when they’re planning a company offsite: properties we’ve already walked, measured and lit for commercial productions.

Spain works for offsites because it’s short-haul from almost every European hub — roughly two and a half hours from London, Berlin and Amsterdam — yet still delivers a proper change of scene. These eleven venues span Andalusian countryside, Canary-island modernism, Madrid urban, Barcelona creative streets and Alicante coast. All we do is help you pick.

Why Spain

Six reasons Spain works for a company offsite

Short-haul from every European hub

Around two to two-and-a-half hours from London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Milan. Most teams land, transfer and are at the venue the same afternoon, which keeps a three-day programme genuinely three days.

Four very different terrains to pick from

Andalusian hills, Mediterranean coast, Canary-island modernism and two big creative cities. You can match the terrain to the work: rural for strategy, urban for recruiting, coast for celebration.

Built for 15–60-person teams

Our Spain venues sit in the sweet spot where the whole property becomes yours without needing a conference hotel. Breakout corners, dining for the full group, and quiet rooms for one-to-ones are all covered.

Activity-rich without travelling far

Cooking classes, sailing, hiking, wine tastings, food-market walks, flamenco, padel. Every venue we list has a short drive to three or four group activities so the agenda writes itself.

Shoulder-season value

May, September and early October are the sweet spot: warm enough for outdoor dinners, mild enough for working sessions, and rates meaningfully below peak summer. Winter remains usable for indoor-led programmes in the south.

One point of contact for the whole stay

Because we come from production, we handle the layer above booking: transfers, catering coordination, activity bookings, AV for plenary sessions, and a recce visit when the group is large enough to warrant one.

Planning a team offsite in Spain: the things worth knowing

Picking the right region for the brief

Spain is really four offsite countries in one. Andalusia and rural Málaga suit focused strategy weeks where you want the group together on one estate with a fireplace, a pool and no night-life distraction. The Canary Islands, particularly Tenerife, give you Mediterranean-feel weather almost year-round and sea-edge modernist houses that read as both holiday and serious. Madrid is right for recruitment offsites and all-hands where evenings matter. Barcelona suits creative and product teams who want walking, food markets and a museum afternoon built into the programme without driving anywhere. Match the region to the real objective of the week, not the brochure.

When to go: seasonality and pricing

May, September and the first half of October are the clear sweet spot for team offsites across mainland Spain and the Balearics. You get warm-but-not-punishing weather, rates that sit well below peak August, and venues that are happy to be flexible because it’s not the wedding peak. July and August are workable for short beach-led trips but expensive and hot for working sessions. Tenerife and the Canaries extend the useful window through November and into March, which is why we send mid-winter offsites there. Andalusian fincas stay usable all year, just expect an indoor-led programme November through March with fires in the evenings and sessions in covered salons.

Capacity, meeting rooms and AV reality

Most of the properties on this page are built for fifteen to sixty people — the single-property whole-team offsite, not the five-hundred-person conference. Inside that range, the question we always ask first is whether you need a proper plenary room with screen, projector, mic and a reliable set-up for a half-day of working sessions, or whether you just need a long dining table and Wi-Fi. Fincas and villas typically need a mobile AV hire brought in; design hotels like The Principal Madrid and Hotel Unico Madrid include meeting rooms and in-house AV. Telling us early which of these two you need saves a whole round of shortlisting.

Activities, catering and the three-day programme

A good Spain offsite usually runs three to five nights and alternates plenary mornings with activity afternoons, then a group dinner. Activities that consistently land well with mixed-seniority teams: a chef-led cooking class with a paella or tapas build, a sailing or catamaran afternoon on the coast, a sherry or Rioja tasting, a guided food-market walk, a hike in the Tramuntana or Sierra Nevada depending on the region. Catering is nearly always possible on site — fincas have in-house cooks or preferred suppliers, hotels have full kitchens. Tell us dietary requirements and activity-intensity preferences and we’ll build the programme around them.

Team offsite formats our Spain venues regularly host
Leadership offsites, 8–20 people, 2–3 nights
Whole-team strategy weeks, 15–40 people
Kick-off or year-start planning trips
Post-funding or post-launch celebration offsites
Sales kick-offs with plenary plus activity days
Engineering hack-weeks in a villa with fast Wi-Fi
Company-wide all-hands, 40–60 people
Partnership retreats with two merging teams

If you know the rough dates, team size and what the week is for, we can have three to five shortlisted venues across the right Spain regions in your inbox within 24 hours — availability-checked, with real photos, capacity notes, and an honest pros/cons view for your specific brief. Common questions

Frequently asked

What group size do these Spain offsite venues work for?

Our Spain roster sits in the fifteen-to-sixty-person sweet spot — the single-property whole-team offsite rather than the conference. Finca La Bobadilla and the Madrid hotels stretch higher if you need it; the Tenerife villas and Barcelona apartments sit more comfortably in the fifteen-to-thirty range. Tell us headcount and whether you want everyone sleeping on site and we’ll filter accordingly.

What’s a realistic budget for a team offsite in Spain?

Industry benchmarks we hear from clients run roughly €150–€500 per person per day all-in, depending on region, season and how much activity-and-catering is programmed in. Rural fincas and shoulder-season dates come in at the lower end. Madrid and Barcelona city hotels, peak season and high-activity programmes push toward the upper end. We’re happy to sense-check a budget before you commit.

Do the venues include meeting rooms and AV for working sessions?

Design hotels like The Principal Madrid and Hotel Unico Madrid include meeting rooms with in-house AV. Fincas and villas typically need mobile AV — screen, projector, mic, good Wi-Fi extender — which we can bring in via our production suppliers. Tell us whether you need a proper plenary set-up or just a long table and we’ll match properties accordingly.

What’s cancellation and payment like for a group booking?

Each venue sets its own terms, but the pattern is consistent: a 25–50% deposit on signing, balance around 60 days before arrival, and a sliding cancellation scale that tightens inside 90 days. We surface the full terms with each shortlisted venue so your legal and finance teams can compare side-by-side before you choose.

How do people usually travel there — and is airport transfer sorted?

Spain is around two to two-and-a-half hours by air from most European hubs. For groups we arrange coach or minibus transfers from Málaga, Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife South or Alicante airports depending on the venue — cleaner than a dozen taxis, and it lets the group arrive together. Individual travel from regional offices is usually left to employees with a per-diem limit.

Is group travel insurance and accessibility something you help with?

Travel and public-liability insurance is the client’s side — most companies already have a corporate policy that extends to team travel, worth checking with your broker before booking. On accessibility, tell us in the brief: several venues, particularly the Madrid hotels and Finca La Bobadilla, have step-free access and accessible rooms. Historic fincas and Gràcia apartments can be genuinely challenging — we’ll flag honestly.

How do I request a shortlist?

Send us rough dates, team size, the purpose of the week (strategy, kick-off, celebration, planning), preferred region if you have one, and an indicative per-person budget. We come back within 24 hours with three to five shortlisted Spain venues — availability-checked, with real photos, capacity notes, and a pros/cons view for your brief. No obligation.
