Portella is a hotel in the city, nestled in a palace dating from the 17th century with Moorish
and Baroque influences.
The building is built around a lushly landscaped patio, a haven of peace amid Palma's hustle
and bustle, simple, over which time seems to have no hold.
The intention was to turn it into a secret home rather than a trendy place. A very intimate
residence that makes you feel privileged. The lack of signage and branding makes you
forget that you are in a hotel, enhancing the feeling of living in a family home.
The style is rather classic but the walls having been the home to a painter for a long time,
we wanted to preserve the bohemian spirit of this artist's studio.
The place has not been designed in a seaside atmosphere which would have been too
expected, but in an island atmosphere more appropriate to the location: a vibrant city
along the sea.
The architecture has been stripped of anything that didn't fit in with the building's origins,
highlighting the original elements of the existing building and working with local materials
and local companies.
